General Dentistry
At our office, a typical dental cleaning for your child is a friendly and comfortable experience designed to keep their teeth healthy and help them develop good habits.
Here’s what you can expect:
First, we’ll review your child’s medical history. This is to make sure we’re aware of any important information, like allergies or any medications they might be taking, that could affect their care.
Next, we’ll check if your child is due for any X-rays. X-rays help us see areas that aren’t visible during a regular exam, like cavities between the teeth or early signs of dental issues. These are important for catching problems early and keeping their smile healthy.
After the X-rays, we’ll perform a prophy (a professional cleaning). During this part, we’ll gently remove plaque and tartar from your child’s teeth. This helps prevent cavities and gum disease, and it’s an important step in maintaining oral health.
Following the cleaning, we’ll apply fluoride. Fluoride helps protect your child’s teeth from cavities by strengthening the enamel, which is especially important for growing teeth.
Finally, the dentist will perform a visual exam to check the overall health of your child’s teeth and gums. The dentist will look for signs of cavities, gum problems, and any other issues that might need attention.
Additionally, we begin evaluating children for braces around the age of 7. While your child may not need braces at that age, this early evaluation helps us identify potential alignment issues early on, so we can plan for any future treatments if needed.
Our goal is to ensure that your child’s teeth stay healthy, and that they leave with a bright smile and a positive experience! We’re here to make their dental care as easy and enjoyable as possible.
